7-9 June 2006 saw the launch of the first regional Silk Road Investment Forum in Xi'an, China. The forum brought together government representatives, as well as members of the business community and civil societies from the entire region. Presentations and discussions resulted in partnerships and a Xi'an Declaration. A regional tradition was established with the decision that next year's forum is to be held in the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
