The Silk Road Initiative (SRI) is a UNDP programme in cooperation with State Governments, private sectors and civil society. Inspired by the tradition of the old trade route, the programme seeks to enhance regional cooperation between P.R. China and the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Three inter-related focus areas; trade, investment and tourism, are all components of the overarching goal of helping the region meet the Millennium Development Goals of reducing poverty and promoting growth and equality.
